There’s a fairly common question that I get from people starting out their YouTube channel “should I make shorter videos, should I make longer videos or should I split up those longer videos into a couple of smaller videos?’
If you’re starting a YouTube channel there’s a lot of things you got to consider.
If you do a long video one of the great things about long video is it might increase your watch time if more people watch it.
The big downside with long form content is you only have one of them or one piece.
When you split up your videos you have multiple versions in a way of that content.
Number two is there’s multiple keywords.
You got to look at people’s attention span because now their focus muscle is a lot smaller than it used to be.
People are just kind of quickly hopping around getting a quick tip and then moving on.
So I would say at the beginning focus on splitting up your videos.
There are two types of people, those who are motivated and want depth and those who want want quickies.
For the people that want depth, you do long form.
So how do you create long form and short form together?
First create three short videos then what you do is create an intro and then you add these three videos in there and then create an outro.
Now you’ve got a new video so in total you’ve got four videos.

This is the smarter approach when it comes to looking at creating content and video content whether you want to split up your YouTube videos or you want to make long form because some people are going to be interested in longer form content and other people are going to be interested in shorter form content.
So I think having a mix is good depending on the person and not to mention then you’re able to hit different types of people.
