If you’re brand new to the YouTube space, you’re probably trying to figure out how to plan out videos that way you can film and get things out the door. I’m going to share with you what I use — this is Dynalist.
Typically, we use AirTable (link in the description) for a lot of things. I used to plan things out like this.
I try to figure out what the video really is all about and pre-plan it a lot but I found that to take up a little too much time.
I’m always looking for efficiency. How do I make it a little quicker?
What I found is actually jotting notes down in Dynalist because my filming is, in a way, automatic.
I know my content. I know my subject matter.
I’m just looking to get the video out the door to share with you my thoughts.
I want to do something quick and Dynalist works really well.
I will jot my idea here.
After the video is recorded, I move it over in my hard drive and then I’ll delete it. It’s done and now it’s ready to go.
Sometimes I’ll film on a glass board. Sometimes I’ll film with paper overhead.
I will film any different cameras and different things in different lighting situations.
What happens is I’ll just locate today I’m going to film a bunch of things that are maybe more paper overhead and face-to-face.
In that case, I’ll look which video would be good for that because that’s the type of filming I want to do. Then, I’ll pick one from the content right there. I’ll take that one and good to go.
Other times, I might have the glass board. That one requires a little more special lighting with the reflections that happen. In that case, I’ll pick out which one I can work for the glass board.
I have the list of videos.
I’ll create some content. It’s detailed content but I don’t have to get that specific and planning it out. Some people, of course, write out scripts. If you want to do that, that’s fine. That’s not a problem. You could write notes in here of this video. But in my case, I’m looking to jot the headline.
If you’re trying to be a little more specific, you could write in some notes and a script — AirTable might be a little bit better.
But in my case, using Dynalist works really well. It just allows me to get the videos out fairly quickly.
