You might be wondering how long it takes to write a good quality book. The answer isn’t all that simple. Different topics require different amounts of research, fact-checking, etc. And certain topics require more lengthy explanations than others.
For example, the first book I wrote – Round Diamond Buying Guide (which was under a pen name and co-written) took six months to publish. We were still figuring out how things worked in the book industry and making sure we had everything correct.
The second book I wrote, The Business Launch Pad, was written completely by myself and took about six months as well. Though to compare to the first book, it was about 150 more pages more, included graphics and went through the entire proofing process of editing, proofreading and layout design.
The next book I wrote was 100 Stock Trading Tips, and it has 115 pages and took me a couple weeks to write. I also used a program to speak the text instead of typing (Dragon Naturally Speaking). It accelerated the beginning process of drafting and made the rest of the publishing process quite easy.
To streamline the process – I now speak my first draft which is a much quicker process than typing everything. I also hire proofreaders and editors to help ensure that the book quality is up to standards.
Again, the length of time to write, publish and create a book really depends on the type of book you’re bringing to publication and your experience and motivation in the publishing industry.
