Listen to the Podcast
Hey, this is Sasha and thanks for joining me for another video here today on backstage income — where I share with you how to build and grow a profitable online business.
In today’s episode, I’m going to share with you how to go about accelerating your YouTube channel.
In other words, how do you grow your YouTube channel by hiring and outsourcing some other tasks?
The simple steps to growing your YouTube channel
If you try to do every single thing yourself, that’s going to be pretty difficult.
Lay out what you want
Lay out the tasks that you need for other people to do. That way you could have more time to grow your business.
Because if you think about your YouTube channel as a business, you got to lay out what is it that you want to be done.
You got to Search
You got a search and find them.
Think of this as a job recruiter. You have to go out and take the painful task of figuring out who is it that’s gonna work for you.
The third part is the Test
You might need to work with some of these people. I know that in job situations, they usually hire you and then they keep you for a long period of time, especially with big companies and corporations.
But if you’re doing a YouTube channel — if you’re working on online business, you don’t have that luxury. So it’s good to test people.
I usually like to test at least one to three people depending on the position and then eventually one of those will stick around.
We’ll talk a little bit about that here in a bit.
Feedback and improvement
These are the steps that you have to go through to grow your YouTube channel. Hire and outsource people and get them to do the work in order for you to profit and accelerate that YouTube channel that you have.
Lay out what you want
What is it that you want to get from them? Depending on the task that you have at hand.
You might want a thumbnail designer because maybe making thumbnails takes a long time for you. Maybe you have just a ton of videos, so a thumbnail designer might be great.
If you have a lot of videos to edit, you might need an editor for video.
You can check out one of our partner sites videoacorn.com if you need help with video.
You might need a description and keyword writer or in other words to do some SEO meta-tag data.
You might also need someone to post for social media.
And you may also need someone to post to your website — if you have a website. That way they’re posting those videos to your website as well.
There are a lot of tasks at hand but there are always people that are willing to do the work. Sometimes you can get one person to do everything but other times it’s a little bit more difficult.
Specialties like a thumbnail designer, this could be in the graphics space. And because it’s in the graphics, not everyone has that skill set. You can’t use a virtual assistant.
Next step is to do the search
When you’re looking at step number two, you have to search for people to take care of this for you.
You can go and do this on other websites. Like here we have Fiverr.com, you can go ahead and check that website out where.
If you’re looking at Fiverr, let’s say I need someone to do thumbnail design. I’m going to search.
Three YouTube thumbnails attractive designs. There are some thumbnail designs here as well. Viral YouTube thumbnail. So, it gives you some interesting ideas that you can check out.
If you need someone to do video editing, you can do the same thing.
There are other websites like Upwork. You can also do that and really it’s just all about trying to find someone that matches what you’re looking for.
It’s a little difficult to do these things. So, oftentimes, what I would do is test people.
You’ll hire maybe two, three, four people — depending on the amount of work, and test people.
Step number three is Test Someone
After you’re done with the search, you have to do some testing.
So, you post a job or you might actually just hire someone.
You’ll get three or four people that say ‘hey, I want the job’ and you check their results.
This is a painful process because here you’re talking to people. You would have to tell them what to do, what you want — your needs.
You give the same project to all three people. You may think it’s a waste of time. You’re paying them — it could be eight dollars an hour, it could be twenty dollars in there, it could be a hundred dollars an hour — depending on your tasks but you have to and you need to evaluate and…
You should get feedback from them after that test and you should also give your feedback.
Meaning, you get the feedback from them:
- how they did,
- what they like,
- what they don’t like
- do they like this type of work
- do they not like this type of work
because there you’ll be able to filter out people that may be a great fit for you.
Then eventually, you give it back to them:
- what did you like?
- what you didn’t like about the job?
so that way you recognize — is it somebody that’s worthwhile to continue to do the work?
There are many more details if you’re trying to hire and post a job and get those people to come in and bid on your project.
We have other videos about that. If you’re talking about designing thumbnails — are they doing it the smart way? We also have videos about that.
But ultimately, it comes down to building a relationship with someone. That way you know you are consistent in your production. You are consistent in your timeline.
It’s not about always doing the fastest work. Some people may knock things out in a day or in an hour and other people may take seven days but are you getting consistency for your needs?
If they take seven days to do something, maybe it’s slower than other people, but are the results good? Are they worthwhile? and are they always on top of that seven-day timeline?
If that’s the way that you produce videos and content and are build YouTube business, then it’s a good match and a good fit. You can continue to grow and evolve that relationship with time.
You may be able to condense it to just having one person if they can all do those skill sets.
Other times you may need two or three people and that’s really where it can become a little bit of a problem. Managing things. Setting things up. Who’s doing the thumbnail?
You have to play a little bit more of the I guess the logistical coach and passing things and items back and forth — which is beyond the scope of this video.
But I hope this gives you a starting point to learning about how to grow your online YouTube channel by hiring and outsourcing people. That way you can go through the process and you don’t have as much work on your plate. To have other people do some of the work for you can make you focus on the business growth tasks rather than the administrative tasks.
