Listen to the Podcast
Hey, this is Sasha. Welcome to another episode here on backstage income where I share with you how to build and grow a profitable business.
In today’s episode, I want to share with you how to, in a smart way, create your YouTube thumbnail.
Here is how we create our thumbnails
We use our boards.
We set up some different thumbnails and different design variations, and it just grows with time.
Each one is its file, but you put all these artboards into a single central file. You have these canvases — this is another one.
All I need to do is to be able to change this thumbnail to something that catches my eye.
You can see some are catered towards white text, and others are for darker text.
I’ll tweak this right here. I have different layers here. So, you’re working with smart objects.
What I do now is I tweak my title. Let’s say in this title, and I want to talk about creating awesome thumbnails.
I’m just gonna write ‘Creating YouTube Thumbnails’.
I’m not going to do everything I need to do right this second. You’ll see what I’m talking about.
I can now tweak it based on my needs.
I could change the face here. So that one doesn’t work.
I’ll click that, and we’ve already embedded and included a lot of the faces, the poses in there. If I don’t like that one, I could go to this one. All the photos have been already pre-taken, so I don’t have to do a single shot.
I’ll hit save. Now, I can wait for it to finish rendering because they did take a lot of computer power when you got a lot of this stuff updating in all these different files.
There’s a lot of flexibility here when it comes to just tweaking what you’re doing. Once you have a base thumbnail and some thumbnails, I tweak it for my needs. All I got to do click quick export as PNG or export as a JPEG.
That’s how we make thumbnails. I’m going to tweak this one a little bit more before I put it on YouTube.
That’s the smarter approach to working with your thumbnails.
