If you have a website or blog and you’re trying to connect with an audience – you will most likely be creating content for that audience. It’s important to know about content creation hierarchy and the most powerful content medium on the internet.
The reason you’ll want to know which content medium is the most powerful is that you’ll want to create the most value-added items to give to your audience.
If we break down the fundamental levels of content mediums from highest-value to lowest-value, it would look something like this:
Audio & Images
Text based content
You can mix and match these content mediums to create very powerful and value-added content as well as use the highest-value content medium to develop the other bases. For example, you can create the highest-value content using video. Then you can extract the audio from that video to form the audio (podcast) medium. You can take what was said in the video and lay it out visually in graphics and lastly, you can transcribe the video to a written post (which is exactly what this blog post is right here).
When thinking about where you should spend your time and energy in content creation, it’s wise to start with the highest-value content medium (video) and work down the hierarchy instead of going from bottom to top.
